Sight Words

Dear Parents,

Listed below are the sight words that we will be introducing during this first semester.    Please feel free to reinforce these words at home with your child.

Ideas to learn Sight Words

1. Rainbow Writing-  Write the word in yellow Hi Lighter on a piece of paper.  Have your child trace over it several times with different     colored crayons while saying each letter.  Then say the word.

2. Magnetic Letters-  Hand your child the letters and have  her make the word correctly.  Repeat several times.  Then have her write the
     word correctly.

3. Weird Writing- Show your child the word with magnetic letters.  Have him  copy it using very big

writing. Then have him order write it using very small writing.   Then have him write the word normally.

4. Paintbrush Idea- Write the word in chalk and have your child paint over it with water several times.  As he paints,  he should say the         letters out loud and say the word.

Whatever you decide to do, make this a fun activity lasting only a few brief minutes a night.  Any words your child picks up will be helpful, but most of all, keep the enthusiasm for reading high.  If you view it as fun and like a game, your attitude will be contagious!
